2021 George Washington University Men’s Water Polo Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — George Washington University will aim to return to the top of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) standings and make a return trip to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship in 2021.
The 2017 and 2018 MAWPC Champion, GW will open the 2021 season on Saturday-Sunday, September 4-5, with road games versus Iona College, Princeton University and the University of California at the United States Naval Academy’s Navy Open in Annapolis, Md.
A week later, the Colonials are back on the road at the Princeton University in Princeton, N.J., against St. Francis College Brooklyn, Brown University and Harvard University on Saturday-Sunday, September 11-12.
George Washington’s string of games against Ivy League institutions continues on Saturday, September 18, as the Colonials meet Harvard and Brown in Cambridge, Mass., during the Harvard Invitational.
MAWPC-East Region competition starts on Friday, September 24, as GW travels to Baltimore, Md., to meet Johns Hopkins University. The Colonials string of neutral/road games comes to an end on Saturday, September 25, as George Washington hosts Mount St. Mary’s University in a MAWPC-East contest in Washington, D.C., prior to returning to the road for a MAWPC-East game at defending league champion Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., on Sunday, September 26.
From there, the team travels to the West Coast to take on California Baptist University and the University of La Verne in Claremont and Laverne, California, respectively, on Friday, October 1, prior to matching-up with Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 2.
Following its trip to California, George Washington returns to the East Coast for league games at Wagner College and Fordham University in Staten Island and the Bronx, New York (Saturday, October 9), home versus Bucknell (Saturday, October 16) and Navy (Friday, October 29) and on the road at Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Md. (Sunday, October 31) to close out October.
The regular season comes to a close with home games against Wagner and Fordham (Sunday, November 7) prior to hosting Johns Hopkins and Navy (Saturday, November 13).
The regular season standings will establish the field positions for the MAWPC Championship slated for Friday-Sunday, November 19-21, at Navy’s Lejeune Hall. The victor of the MAWPC Championship claims the league’s automatic berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Water Polo Championship set for the University of California-Los Angeles.
