BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Alana Ponce (Jr., Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor) paced George Washington University on both ends of the pool with 13 goals, six assists, five field blocks and five steals during a 3-1 weekend at the Bucknell University Invitational. For her all-around performance, she earns status as the February 10 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.
The junior scored four times with pairs of assists and field blocks in a 12-10 defeat of Salem University. She added four goals in an 8-6 win over Saint Francis University to accompany a three goal, three assist performance in turning back Gannon University, 12-5. In addition, she chipped in a pair of goals with an assist, two steals and a pair of field blocks in an 11-4 loss to La Salle University.
The award marks the fifth weekly honor bestowed on Ponce as she previously claimed three Rookie (February 12, March 26, April 16) and a single Player (February 12) of the Week honor during her freshman season in 2018.
