ERIE, Pa. — The Grove City College women’s water polo team concluded a busy week during Spring Break by earning a 12-8 win versus Connecticut College after taking a 14-9 setback against host Penn State Behrend in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III-East Region action at the Junker Center.

Six Wolverines scored in the victory over Connecticut College. Sophomore Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) fired in four goals for the Wolverines (1-1 CWPA), while senior Kamryn Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) scored three times.

Grove City also received a pair of goals from freshman Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary). Senior Mikayla Zablocki (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong), junior Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and junior Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) added goals.

Tihansky assisted three goals with freshman Zoe Luttrell (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) tallying a pair of helpers. Sill, senior Riley McCullough (Spring, Texas/Oak Ridge) and freshman Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) each recorded an assist.

Junior goalie Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) also assisted a goal. She made 10 saves to record the win. Baksa led the defense with four steals. Tihansky had three thefts.

Baksa scored four goals in the day’s opener against Penn State Behrend.  Tihansky scored twice while Kerr, Sill and Strahorn also fired in goals. Kerr notched two assists. Scalise, Sill, Zablocki and senior Sam Logue (Hollister, Calif./San Bruno) also had assists.

Steen stopped 10 shots in goal.
