UTICA, N.Y. — The Grove City College women’s water polo team split a pair of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III-East Region battles at Utica University. After dropping a 13-7 decision to Washington & Jefferson College, the Wolverines rebounded for a 13-2 win over host Utica.

Eight Grove City players scored in the win over Utica, with six players scoring twice. Senior Tia Kannel (York, Pa./Central York), senior Reese Trauger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge), sophomore Sam Logue (Hollister, Calif./San Benito), sophomore Riley McCullough (Spring, Texas/Oak Ridge), sophomore Mikayla Zablocki (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) and freshman Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) all posted two goals for Grove City.

Sophomore Kamryn Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and junior Clarie Lochstet (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) also fired in goals. Kerr and Sill both led Grove City with three assists while McCullough assisted two scores. Kannel, Trauger and Zablocki also had assists.

Kerr led Grove City’s defense with six steals. Lochstet had a season-high five thefts while Logue recorded three steals.

Kannel and Trauger shared time in goal. Kannel stopped two shots while Trauger stopped all five shots on goal faced. 

Grove City led 7-1 at halftime.

Against W&J, Kerr and McCullough both scored a pair of goals. Kannel, Sill and Trauger each added goals in the opener. Kerr recorded three assists and Kannel chalked up two assists. Lochstet and Zablocki also recorded assists against the Presidents.

Kerr and Sill each had three steals.

In goal, freshman Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) made eight saves.
