LA VERNE/CLAREMONT, Calif. — The Grove City College women’s water polo team dropped a pair of games on the first day of the 2023 Convergence Tournament hosted by Division III No. 1-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Division III No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, Division III No. 3 the University of La Verne and Division III No. 10 Occidental College.  Biola University topped the Wolverines in the tournament opener, 25-5, at La Verne, prior to the Grove City suffering an 18-4 setback against Division III No. 4 Chapman at Claremont-Mudd Scripps.

Senior Reese Trauger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) fired in a pair of goals against Biola, while senior Tia Kannel (York, Pa./Central York), sophomore Kamryn Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and sophomore Mikayla Zablocki (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) also scored goals.

Kerr also assisted two goals for Grove City and snagged two steals. Junior Clarie Lochstet (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) also snatched a pair of steals in the loss.

Freshman goalie Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) made two saves. Kannel also stopped two shots in her one quarter of action in goal.

Kerr fired in a season-high three goals against Chapman. Freshman Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Calif./Princess Anne) added a goal for the Wolverines. Kannel stopped two shots in goal.
