BRIDGEPORT, Pa. —  The Hartwick College Athletic Department formally inducted seven new members into the institution’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, June 19.  Officially listed as the class of 2021, the seven athletes joined 153 other former athletes, coaches and administrators, along with two teams, in the Hall of Fame.  This honor is given to those athletes, coaches and administrators who have made outstanding contributions to Hartwick’s intercollegiate athletics programs. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those who have brought distinction honor, and excellence to Hartwick through their athletic accomplishments.

The 2021 class of the Hartwick College Athletics Hall of Fame featured Steve Long ’79 (Men’s Soccer); Dick Cartwright ’79 (Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field); Jennifer Brassell ’93 (Field Hockey/Women’s Lacrosse); Jay Kalbach ’97 (Men’s Swimming & Diving); Greg Balcavage ’01 (Football); Jemma Dendy Young ’14 (Water Polo); and Jade Woodend ’15 (Women’s Swimming & Diving).

A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Dendy Young ’14 was a two-time Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Honorable Mention All-America pick. She helped the Hawks to a 104-51 record from 2011-2014, contributing 237 goals and 111 assists for 348 points. She is the program’s all-time leader in steals with 322, and holds the single game record with 11. Dendy Young also sits sixth in career points and seventh in career goals in the ‘Wick record books. In her final two seasons with the Hawks, Dendy Young was a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division First Team and CWPA Eastern Championship First Team selection to go along with her All-America accolades.

The Hartwick Athletics Hall of Fame inducted its first class in 1995 and has members that played at Hartwick in every decade since 1930.  Eighteen sports are represented among the 160 members.
