BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — After being postponed due to COVID, the now 2021 Summer Olympics will take place in Tokyo, Japan, on Friday, July 23-to-Sunday, August 8, 2021.
In the United States, the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is the home to the Olympics which can be accessed on local NBC stations as well as streamed on NBCOlympics.com, NBC Sports and Peacock.
For fans of water polo, competition is slated to run from Saturday, July 24-to-Sunday, August 8, with Paul Burmeister, Julie Swail and Tony Azevedo on the call.
Burmeister will be handling the play-by-play for water polo in Tokyo after having spent the majority of his commentary career focused on the National Football League (NFL), as well as professional lacrosse, college basketball and the Tour de France. He will be joined by Swail who won Silver on the United States water polo team in 2000, then switched to triathlons in 2002. She would go on to compete in the triathlon at the 2008 Olympics.
Joining the pair will be Azevedo, who is a five-time Olympian in water polo, and a 2008 Silver medalist. Azevedo ranks fourth on the all-time Olympic scoring list for water polo, with a total of 61 goals across his five appearances.
