BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Christian Schillinger (Jr., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) and Clyde Huibregtse (Sr.. New York, N.Y./Bronx High School of Science) of Division III No. 4-ranked the Massachusetts Institute of Technology combined for 15 goals to lead the Engineers to a Third Place finish at the inaugural Division III Collegiate Water Polo National Championship sponsored by USA Water Polo.  For their combined efforts, the duo share status as the December 9 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Player of the Week.

Competing at Whittier College’s Slade Aquatics Center in Whittier, Calif., on Saturday-Sunday, December 7-8, Schillinger finished with six goals and Huibregtse tacked on nine as MIT fell to the host/Division III No. 1 Poets (12-8 L) prior to avenging a loss in the Division III Eastern Championship title game by turning back Division III No. 7 Johns Hopkins University (20-13 W).

The October 24, 2016 NWPC Rookie of the Week, Huibregtse posted a pair of markers versus Whittier prior to going off with seven strikes and a steal against JHU.  For his performance, he was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Schillinger scored once against Whittier and chipped in five goals with a trio of steals in turning back Johns Hopkins in the Third Place game.
