Several tournaments and 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) contests await the Mountaineers this year. It all starts with the single-day Bucknell Invite hosted by Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., where the Mount will match up with the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and Saint Francis University, opponents they faced in the program’s inaugural campaign in 2021. Tournaments at Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio), Princeton University (Princeton, N.J.), Mercyhurst University (Erie, Pa.) and La Salle University (Philadelphia, Pa.) are also on the schedule.

Home games begin February 25, which also serves as the CWPA opener against Princeton. Four of the five contests at the ARCC Swimming Pool are conference affairs, with the marquee day as a doubleheader on March 20 when reigning league champion the University of Michigan comes to Emmitsburg. A meeting with Brown University caps off the afternoon.

After CWPA play wraps up with a tripleheader in Princeton, the Mount returns home for one final game – a non-conference match with St. Francis College Brooklyn on April 8. The season concludes with the conference championships, hosted by Bucknell on April 22-24 in Lewisburg.

Mount St. Mary’s competed in a COVID-19 abbreviated inaugural campaign in March and April of last year. Apart from La Salle, the Mountaineers will challenge every opponent from the past spring again this season.

Led by head coach Alyssa Diacono, the women’s water polo team features a revitalized roster that adds 11 new members for the second campaign in program history.
