BALTIMORE, Md. — 11 different Rams found the back of the net as the No. 18-ranked Fordham University water polo team finished off Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) play with a perfect 16-0 record by defeating Division III No. 7 John Hopkins University, 19-11.
Fordham is now 23-6 overall and extended its team record win streak to 15 contests.
After an even first quarter with each team scoring four times, the Rams netted the first three goals of the second quarter to pull out to a 7-4 edge. Jacopo Parrella scored early with the man advantage, while Lucas Nieto Jasny and Christos Loupakis followed with tallies on consecutive possessions.
Johns Hopkins got back within one at 7-6, but the Rams closed with the final three goals of the second quarter, two of which came from Luca Silvestri, for a 10-6 halftime lead.
Fordham put the game out of reach with a seven-goal third quarter, as six different Rams scored in the eight-minute span, led by two goals from Nir Gross.
For Fordham, Gross and Parrella each had three goals to lead the offense, while Silvestri, Loupakis, George Papanikolaou and Jasny each posted pairs. The remaining markers came from Jason Hiremath, Nacho Ariste, Victor Schultz, Mark Katsev and Balazs Berenyi.
In net, Thomas Lercari made 11 saves over three quarters of work.
