BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. — The Division III No. 4-ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) men’s water polo team fell 23-10 at No. 19 St. Francis College Brooklyn in Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) action.
The Terriers opened the match with six-straight goals before a score from first-year Adam Ivatorov (Rockaway, N.Y.) ended the Terriers’ run. Junior Evan Kowal (South Pasadena, Calif.) and senior Miller Geschke (Los Altos, Calif.) scored for the Engineers as the home team went into the half with a 9-3 lead.
St. Francis continued to build on its lead in the third quarter as the team ended the quarter with an 18-6 advantage. Geschke scored twice to complete a hat trick and sophomore Jack King (Los Altos, Calif.) tossed in a strike for the Engineers.
The Terriers held a 5-4 advantage in goals in the final frame. Kowal scored twice, while Geschke tallied his fourth of the day and first-year Vik Neni (Laguna Beach, Calif.) got his first for the Engineers down the stretch.
Junior Colin Weaver (Huntington Beach, Calif.) made 11 saves in the contest, and senior Conrad Oakes (Pasadena, Calif) stopped six shots for MIT.
