No. 2 California Polytechnic State University-vs.-No. 20 Georgia Institute of Technology Scoresheet (2024 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship– Game #5)

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Kameron Vitali (Sr., Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Ryan Bousfield (Jr., Granite Bay, Calif.) both tallied two goals as No. 2-ranked/Pacific Coast Division Champion California Polytechnic State University outdistanced Southeast Division Champion/No. 20 the Georgia Institute of Technology, 12-4, in the first round of the 2024 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Florida’s Ann Marie Rogers Swimming & Diving Pool in the O’Connell Center.

Via the victory, Cal Poly advances to a quarterfinal game on Saturday, November 9, at 10:10 a.m. Eastern against Texas Division Champion/No. 11 Texas A&M University – which defeated Big Ten Division Champion/No. 7 the University of Michigan by an 11-9 count earlier in the day.  Georgia Tech drops into the consolation side of the 16-team championship bracket and will take on Michigan at 6:20 p.m. later today.

The Mustangs never trailed against the Yellow Jackets as Cal Poly opened up 2-0 and 6-0 leads by the conclusion of the first and second quarters, respectively, prior to outscoring Georgia Tech 4-3 and 2-1 in the third and fourth quarters.

Vitali and Bousfield were the only Cal Poly athletes to net multi-goal games in the victory as Aidan Seed (Sr., Woodside, Cailf.), Colin Parker (So., Walnut Creek, Calif.), Jack Sweet (Gr., Thousand Oaks, Calif.), Jake Anderson (Jr., Redwood City, Calif.), Daniel Davis (Jr., Alamo, Calif.), Diego Barraclough (Jr., Simi Valley, Calif.), Bennett Steiger (Jr., Sonoma, Calif.) and Jackson Geiger (Fr., Aliso Viejo, Calif.) each accounted for solo markers in support of a combined seven save performance by goalkeepers Tristan Linder (Sr., San Ynez, Calif.) and Hayden Finley (Fr., Dana Point, Calif.).

Joshua Ingleson (Jr., Marietta, Georgia) punched in a trio of strikes to lead the way for Georgia Tech, while Ben Ward (So., Atlanta, Georgia) notched a solo tally.  Pedro Dal Bo (Sr., Curitiba, Brazil) and Charles Nancarrow (Fr., Marietta, Georgia) combined for six stops while guarding the Yellow Jackets’ cage.
