GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Jake Anderson (Jr., Redwood City, Calif.) and Jackson Geiger (Fr., Aliso Viejo, Calif.) both scored three times to shared Player of the Game recognition as Pacific Coast Division Champion/No. 2-ranked California Polytechnic State University overcame an 8-6 halftime deficit to take down Texas Division Champion/No. 11 Texas A&M University, 16-14, in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Florida’s Ann Marie Rogers Swimming & Diving Pool in the O’Connell Center.
The all-time leader in National Collegiate Club Championships with five (1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007) in eight title game appearances (1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2022), Cal Poly – which has also previously finished Second (2003, 2008), Third (2000, 2017, 2018) and Fifth (2006) at the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship since 2000 – will need to go through the two-time defending National Champions to return to the title tilt as the Mustangs are slated to face 2022/2023 Men’s National Collegiate Club Champion the University of California-San Diego in the semifinals. Game time versus the Sierra Pacific Division Champion/No. 1 Tritons is penciled in at 5:10 p.m. Eastern later today.
Texas A&M falls into the consolation side of the championship bracket as the Aggies will meet Atlantic Division Champion/No. 19 the University of Virginia at 4:00 p.m. Eastern later today with a spot in the Fifth Place game on the line.
