BRONX, N.Y. —  No. 5-ranked Fordham University took care of business by recording a pair of victories at home in the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center.  The Rams defeated No. 13 Princeton University, 19-16, in non-conference action, while also taking down Wagner College in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) play, 21-9.

Fordham is now 10-1 on the season, 4-0 in the MAWPC.

Facing the defending Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion Tigers of Princeton, the Rams fell behind early as the Orange & Black opened the match with a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.  Fordham rallied back to pull within one at halftime, 9-8.

The Rams then put together a six-goal effort in the third quarter to go up 14-13, as Andras Toth and Barnabas Eppel each scored twice in the frame.

Luca Silvestri scored to open the fourth quarter to put Fordham up two – a lead the Rams refused to relinquish over the remainder of the contest.

Toth was the leading scorer for the Rams with six goals, two assists and three steals, while Silvestri netted three goals to go with four assists.

Eppel, Tresa and Alessandro Salipante also had two goals each.

In net, Matthew Bonello DuPuis made eight saves with an assist and a steal. 

In the evening contest versus Wagner, Fordham built up a 5-2 lead after the first quarter, getting goals from four different goal scorers.

The Rams added six markers in the second quarter to go with five in the third and fourth quarters for the 21-9 final score.

Toth was once again atop the Rams’ scoresheet with seven goals and two assists with Provenziani having four goals, two assists and two steals.

Ten other Rams also scored, including Balazs Berenyi, Kyle Thomas, Reid Thorson, Silvestri, Eppel, Marco Napolitano, Diego Tresa, Charlie Martin, Gianni Farrugia and Salipante.

In net, Kristof Magony posted ten saves, two of which were penalty blocks, to go with two assists. 

Fordham has now won 48 consecutive regular season MAWPC matches. Including the MAWPC Championship, the Rams have 59 straight wins over teams from the MAWPC.
