SURPRISE, Arizona — Ottawa University (OUAZ), a premier Christian University located in Surprise, Arizona, is seeking applications for the position of Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Water Polo . This is a full time, twelve month position.

OUAZ is now inviting applications from highly qualified professionals who have proven track records in leadership, coaching, fundraising, recruitment and community service for the position of the Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Water Polo . This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for planning and administering all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Water Polo program.

Candidates for the above position should possess a commitment to Christian higher education, model servant leadership, and be willing to assume the duties listed in the following general position description.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Christ-centered leadership and direction for the program
  • Organize and administer the recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NAIA and OUAZ policies and procedures
  • Create and maintain relationships for procuring & retaining off-campus facilities necessary for program operation and facilities
  • Provide oversight of student-athletes academic progress toward degree completion
  • Fund and friend raising for the advancement of the program
  • Recruit, retain and graduate student-athletes who contribute to the success of the program and vibrancy of campus life
  • Maintain budget and expense controls
  • Responsibly manage & expend allocated budget & insure the budget balances each fiscal year
  • Make annual budget proposals for the betterment of the program and University
  • Insure adherence to the NAIA rules and regulations including the NAIA Champions of Character 5 core values
  • Maintain a high level of competitive success
  • Provide leadership for campus involvement and community service
  • Schedule, organize and provide leadership for all practices sessions
  • Annually propose an effective and competitive schedule for approval
  • Recruit & oversee assistant coaches and peripheral members of the program staff
  • Actively promote through public relations and fundraising, the athletic program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Effective communication and motivational skills
  • Positive Christian role model for student-athletes, university personnel, alumni and members of the off- campus community
  • Ability to create and operate a collegiate water polo program within budget parameters
