CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer Colleges seeks an assistant men’s water polo coach.
This is a temporary position will work closely with the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach to support all aspects of managing a nationally competitive National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes, balancing athletic excellence with academic achievement. The Assistant Coach will play a key role in supporting all aspects of the program, including planning and implementing practice sessions and training programs with an emphasis on technical and tactical development. They will assist with in-game strategy and adjustments, as well as scout opponents and prepare detailed game plans through video breakdown and analysis. The role involves recruiting academically and athletically qualified student-athletes, mentoring players to support their leadership, wellness, and academic achievement, and managing team operations such as equipment, travel logistics, and internal communications. Additionally, the Assistant Coach will contribute to camps, clinics, and community engagement initiatives, while also assisting in promoting the program through various social media platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalency required
- Experience: Previous playing or coaching experience is required. Capacity to positively interact with and support a various population of students, faculty and staff.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Supporting Athletics Communications and Operations (Statistics, media coverage, event setup).
- Assisting with sports club administration.
- Year-long opportunities in facility oversight, wellness programming, and departmental committees.
- Serving as a home contest manager for other varsity sports.
REQUIRED HOURS AND POSITION DETAILS: This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position that is not eligible for benefits. The hours for this position are at least 10-15 hours per week on a variable schedule. Weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. Must be willing to work extensive weekend and evening hours. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
HOURLY RATE: The hourly rate for this role is $16.50. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles.
