Prince George’s Community College, located in Largo, Md., seeks a full-time Assistant Natatorium Coordinator. The hiring salary range is $44,090-to-48,499 with applications due by February 17, 2023.
Job Description Summary: Responsible for assisting the Natatorium Management with the internal operation and managing of the Natatorium, maintaining a safe, clean and functioning facility for the patrons, the instructors and the students that use the Natatorium.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- One to two years of experience as a pool operator and lifeguard.
- American Red Cross Life Guard Certificate.
- Prince George’s County Health Dept Pool and Spa Operator’s License
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification (preferred).
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English
- Ability to pass a Lifeguard water skills test; Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with a diverse, multi?ethnic student, staff and general public clientele
- Ability to provide support for a professional teaching staff
- Ability to work with common hand tools
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Basic knowledge of pool chemistry
- Basic knowledge of weights and measures
- Able to work flexible days, evenings and weekends
- Willing to work overtime as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assures maximum safety of all natatorium patrons and staff
- Opens the facility ensuring that the Natatorium is properly prepared for the daily operation
- Closes the facility ensuring that the Natatorium is properly secured and paperwork completed
- Verifies front bank and passes
- Oversees the staff, head lifeguards, lifeguards and desk attendants
- Maintains all required certifications and licenses
- Aids in administrative matters of program and record keeping
- Reviews for correctness sign in sheets
- Maintains pass sales log, sub list
- Responsible for assigning, and assisting when needed, the setting up and taking down equipment; adjusting pool floor, lane markers, and bulkhead for activities and swim meets
- Assures that all Prince George’s County Health Department regulations, Natatorium rule and college policies are followed
- Informs Natatorium Management of any needed repairs or supplies
- Oversees daily water quality records as required by Prince George’s County Health Department
- Handle pool chemicals safely
- Performs head lifeguard, lifeguard and desk attendant duties as necessary
- Oversees the handling of passes, daily admissions and attendance records
- Verifies the reconciliation of deposit and daily account forms
- Inspects the cleanliness of the natatorium and advisee Facilities Management as needed
- Manages the pool and associated facilities
- Assists the lifeguards with the daily maintenance and cleaning of the Natatorium
- Assists patrons as needed
- Performs related work as required
Job Requirements:
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift with assistance 150 lbs. (Chemicals necessary for pool operations).
- Able to work in, around and on top of and under pool equipment.
- Must swim 1/2 mile per week to maintain fitness
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
