2020 – JULIE HYRNE – UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

During a career in Ann Arbor that spanned the 2006-to-2009 seasons, Julie Hyrne was pivotal in the rise of the University of Michigan in the league and on the national stage.  A two-time Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America selection with Third Team (2008) and Honorable Mention (2009) recognition, she helped Michigan capture back-to-back Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championships in 2008 and 2009 to cap off her career.

A two-time CWPA Western Division Most Valuable Player (2008, 2009) and a four-time All-CWPA Western Division selection (2006 – Second Team; 2007, 2008, 2009 – First Team), she earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 2008 CWPA Championship and was a three-time CWPA Championship All-Tournament selection (2007 – Second Team; 2008, 2009 – First Team).

A 10-time CWPA Player of the Week selection – the most in Michigan history – she captained both the 2008 and 2009 squads and received the 2008 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.  A 2009 CWPA Scholar-Athlete and ACWPC All-Academic selection, she garnered Academic All-Big Ten and received Michigan Academic Achievement Award recognition three times during her intercollegiate tenure.

She concluded her career with 237 goals and 118 assists for 355 points in 166 games (2.14 points/1.43 goals/0.71 assists per game) with 171 steals and 124 drawn exclusions.
