University of Alabama-vs.-No. 19 United States Military Academy Scoresheet (2023 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship – Game #24)

KEARNS, Utah — Southeast Division Champion the University of Alabama received scoring from nine-athletes to overpower New York Division Champion/No. 19-raned the United States Military Academy, 15-8, in a 13th/15th Place game at the 2023 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by the University of Utah at the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. 

Due to time restrictions, the 13th-to-16 positions are not played out in the three-day, 30 game club championship tournament.  Alabama finishes in a tie with Texas Division Champion/No. 8 Baylor University which topped Missouri Valley Division Champion/No. 13 McKendree University, 15-13, in the other 13th/15th game,  Army ties McKendree for 15th place.

Alabama trailed only once in the game as the Cadets took a 1-0 lead with 4:53 left in the first quarter.  The Crimson Tide tied the game at the 3:25 mark before puling ahead with 6:27 remaining in the second quarter.  Following an equalizer by Army a 3:34, the Tide rolled out to a 6-2 margin by halftime and never looked back in taking the win.

Following a third quarter in which both teams scored three times, Alabama locked up its 13th place finish in the fourth quarter by outdoing the Cadets 6-3 for the 15-8 final score.

For Army, Robby Demont (Jr., Riverbank, Calif.) scored four times with Frankey Fradelizio (Fr., Fairfax, Calif.), Christopher Perera (So., Cincinnati, Ohio), Eric “EB” King (Sr., Zachary, La.) and Jordan Corpuz (Sr., Ewa Beach, Hawaii) accounting for the rest of the Cadets’ offense.

Mic DiLascia (So., Greenwich, Conn.) and Edi Stefanescu (Gr., Rockin, Georgia) both scored three times for Alabama, while Brian Kent (Sr.., Marietta, Georgia) and Reif Richardson (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio) chipped in pairs.  Steven Popiolek (Sr., Naperville, Ill.), Hank Jaffe (Fr., Greenwich, Conn.), Drew Wangard (Jr., Lincolnshire, Ill.), Nicholas Perrera (Gr., Cincinnati, Ohio) and Collin Sczcesny (Gr., Aurora, Ill.) each buried solo tallies..
