DAVIS, Calif. — The University of California-Davis Women’s Water Polo Sports Club is seeking a Head Water Polo Coach for the 2023-2024 school year.

The club competes in the Collegiate Water Polo Association’s (CWPA) Sierra Pacific Division, and consists of a A, B and C teams. The team achieved significant success last year, earning second place at the Sierra Pacific Division Championship and competing at the National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of California-Los Angeles.

Job Description:

1) The Head Coach will be responsible for creating comprehensive training plans for practices and competitions, ensuring the development and improvement of team members.
2) The Head Coach will conduct three coached workouts per week during the Fall Quarter.
3) The Head Coach will conduct four coached workouts per week during the Winter and Spring Quarters until May 31, 2024.
4) The Head Coach will attend one team meeting per month, as needed, to provide guidance, discuss strategies, and address any concerns.
5) The Head Coach will be expected to represent UC Davis, UC Davis Sports Clubs, and the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) in a positive manner, both on and off the field.

Requirements:

  • Previous coaching experience in water polo, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of water polo strategies, techniques, and rules.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey instructions and provide feedback to team members.
  • Ability to create and implement training plans that align with the club’s goals and promote individual and team development.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
  • Availability to commit to the outlined practice schedule and attend team meetings.
  • Adherence to UC Davis, UC Davis Sports Clubs, and CWPA policies and guidelines.
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and lifeguarding (or willingness to obtain these certifications prior to the start of the season).
