BRIDGEPORT, Pa. —  Two-time Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship Coach of the Tournament Katie Larson spoke with USA Water Polo’s Greg Mescall about the Gators’ rise to prominence in the collegiate club ranks on Instagram Live.  The session occurred on Wednesday, April 15. 

The head coach of the 2019 Women’s National Collegiate Club Champion Gators who became the inaugural East Coast club team to win a National Championship in the sport of water polo, the 2018 and 2019 National Championship Coach of the Tournament has led Florida to become a dominant force in the ranks of club teams around the country. 

Larson, who claimed the 2018 Coach of the Tournament award for leading Florida to a Third Place finish Mt. Hood Community College prior to earning the 2019 honor for guiding the Gators to a 4-3 defeat of the University of California-Davis for the National Championship at the University of Notre Dame, has led the rise of Florida with fellow coach/husband Tim Larsen.

Overall, the 2019 National Championship appearance marked Florida’s 14th appearance at the Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship as the Gators hold 14-of-19 Southeast Division titles and have never finished outside the Top 10 at the National Club tournament by placing first (2019), second (2001, 2006), third (2002, 2004, 2012, 2018), fourth (2003, 2016), fifth (2000, 2011), seventh (2008), eighth (2014) and ninth (2005, 2007).
