Virginia wasted little time in putting the game out of reach as the Cavaliers never trailed in outscoring Utah 6-2 and 5-3 in the first and second quarters, respectively, to build an 11-5 lead by halftime. The Utes closed to within 11-8 with 2:19 remaining in the third quarter, but Virginia outscored Utah 6-4 over the remainder of the game to take a five-goal win.
