BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Utica College Professor of Biology and Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Adam Pack will begin service on the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Committee in September 2017.  Pack replaces California Lutheran University Associate Aquatics Director/Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Coach Craig Rond as the Division III representative on the six-member group that oversees the administration of the sport for the NCAA.

He is one of two new members of the group who will begin four year terms in 2017 as Azusa Pacific University head coach Julie Snodgrass replaces outgoing Committee Chair/California State University, East Bay head coach Lisa Cooper.  Pack and Snodgrass join California State University, Fresno head coach Natalie Benson, St. Francis College Brooklyn Senior Women’s Administrator/Director of Marketing Maggie Martini and newly appointed chair/University of California-Santa Barbara Senior Women’s Adminstrator/Deputy Director of Athletics Kelly Barsky.  Pack is one of two CWPA Division III administrators on the committee as Penn State Behrend Director of Athletics Brian Streeter serves an indefinite term as water polo’s NCAA Secretary-Rules Editor.

Dr. Pack recently completed his 16th year at Utica and he has served as the Faculty Athletic Representative for the last four years.  No stranger to college athletics, Pack swam at the State University of New York (SUNY)-Binghamton and spent time as a swimming and water polo coach after graduation. He entered graduate school at SUNY-Health Science Center at Syracuse (now known as Upstate Medical University) in the department of anatomy and cell biology and completed a Ph.D. studying hearing loss in the mammalian hearing organ (known as the organ of Corti in the cochlea).

He was previously selected by the NCAA as a 2016 NCAA Division III Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) Fellow.  The FAR Fellows Institute was launched in 2010 and aims to increase the effectiveness of Division III FARs at the campus, conference and national levels.
