NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The Wagner College men’s water polo team picked up 15-11 victory at Iona University’s Hynes Center Pool.
The Seahawks gained an early lead as Smith Connors and Matan Friedenberg each found the net to give Wagner a 3-2 margin by the conclusion of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Green & White extended their lead with four more goals as Friedenberg added three more tallies to go along with a solo marker by Connors. However, Iona tied the game at seven-all by halftime.
The third quarter proved decisive as the Seahawks’ offense erupted for six goals. Connors completed a hat trick, scoring twice more, while Nadav Carmon, Maayan Nahari, Matt Wedlock and Patrick Ray added tallies to give Wagner a 12-10 lead heading into the final frame.
The Seahawks sealed their victory in the fourth quarter with goals from Ian Conway, Carmon and Connors.
