BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Brian Guidera, who competed on the Hartwick College men’s club team in 1994 and 1995 prior to transferring to the College of Staten Island, has remained in aquatics as the head swimming coach at St. Francis Brooklyn College in Brooklyn Heights.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Staten Island in 2003 after a tenure at Hartwick which saw him complete for the Hawks water polo team and lead the program to a No. 8-ranking in the nation.
Guidera took over the men’s and women’s swimming programs at SFC in September 2007 and recently completed his 13th season leading the Terriers. Under his direction, the Terriers continue to improve and be competitive in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and in the Metropolitan Swimming Conference (men’s swimming).
Guidera started his coaching career as the Head Age Group Coach for the Westfield YMCA Devilfish in Westfield, N.J., from 2001-to-2008 and currently serves as the Director of Competitive Aquatics of the Westfield YMCA. Along with those responsibilities, Guidera serves as the head coach of the Devilfish Swim Team. The Devilfish are a club team of over 200 swimmers and are national ranked. The success of his program has garnered many All-Academic, YMCA All-America, High School All-America, Junior and Senior National Qualifiers and well as US Open Qualifiers.
