BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — 11 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) athletes are among 66 selections to the 2024 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division I All-America team.

Divided into eight First Team, eight Second Team, eight Third Team and 42 Honorable Mention honorees, the ACWPC Division I All-America team is selected based on nominations and voting by the head coaches of each Division I varsity program.

Princeton University’s Kayla Yelensky (Jr., Stamford, Conn./Greenwich Academy) leads the CWPA selections as the 2023 Third Team selection garners Second Team status in 2024.  It marks the second time in as many years the Tigers garner a Second Team pick as Jovana Sekulic (Jr., Belgrade, Serbia/Episcopal Academy (Pa.)) collected Second Team status in 2023.

Yelensky is joined on the All-America list by Princeton goaltender/2023 Third Team honoree Lindsey Lucas (So., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) who is among 10 CWPA athletes to register Honorable Mention commendation.

Overall, five of the league’s 11 All-America selections collect their second All-America nods as Brown University’s Madeleine Poissonnier (So., Tustin, Calif./Foothill) and the University of Michigan’s Kata Utassy (Sr., Budapest, Hungary/Konyves Kalmain Secondary School) previously received Honorable Mention notice in 2023, while Saint Francis University’s Emese Szucs (Sr., Budapest, Hungary) was a 2021 Honorable Mention recipient.

Six athletes earn their inaugural All-America laurels as Brown’s Ella Palmer (So., Auckland, New Zealand/St. Cuthbert’s College) and Sophie Golub (Sr., Woodside, Calif./Menlo School), Harvard University’s Ruby Hodge (So., San Juan Capistrano, Calif/Santa Margarita Catholic), Maya O’Dea (Fr., Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson) and Emma Gilbert (Fr., Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) along with Michigan’s Libby Alsemgeest (Sr., Hamilton, New Zealand/St. Cuthbert’s College) also earn spots on the Honorable Mention list.

Since 2005, the mission of the ACWPC is to promote the development and advancement of collegiate water polo.  This shall be accomplished by providing its membership with professional education, services, training and a united voice.
