2017 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-East Region Schedule Released

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Bucknell University, George Washington University, the United States Naval Academy, Johns Hopkins University, Fordham University and Wagner College will compete for the second season in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-East Region.

It marks the second season of competition in the Eastern Region of the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) after the inaugural campaign in 2016 following the division of the CWPA into the MAWPC East and West Regions along with the New England Water Polo Conference (NWPC).

The hextet of the Bison, Colonials, Midshipmen, Blue Jays, Rams and Seahawks will battle over the span of September 8 until November 5 in a double round-robin format to establish the seeds for the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 17-19, as the six East squads will take on the top teams programs from the West Region Championship (Connecticut College, Gannon University, La Salle University, McKendree University, Mercyhurst University, Monmouth College, Salem International University, Washington & Jefferson).

The victor of the MAWPC Championship earns a berth into the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship with the victors of the MAWPC and NWPC likely to clash in a play-in game similar to 2016.

In the history of the past Eastern, Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) and MAWPC Championship tournaments, Bucknell (1974, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 2016) and Navy (1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 2000, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2008) are the lone Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference programs to previously capture a title.
