BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2019 men’s varsity water polo season continues heading into this weekend’s conference championship tournaments as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 11/November 20 Polls.

Stanford University and the University of Southern California remain deadlocked in the National Top 20 Poll as the Cardinal and Trojans share the No. 1 position for another week.  The Division III Top 10, NWPC and MAWPC rankings remain consistent in the top spot as Whittier College, Harvard University and Bucknell University are unanimous top picks, respectively.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 11/November 20)

Stanford University and the University of Southern California remain tied at No. 1 in the Week 11/November 20 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

USC (97 points), which ranked at No. 1 in the Preseason and Week 1 voting before equaling the Cardinal last week, and Stanford (97 points), which topped the poll in Weeks 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 before tying the Trojans, enter the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship tournament with the potential of a No. 1-vs.-No. 1 clash on the table.

The University of California-Los Angeles (91 points) and University of the Pacific (86 points) retain the No. 3 and 4 spots, while Pepperdine University (80 points) usurps the University of California-Santa Barbara (75 points) to take over a No. 5.

The University of California (67 points), Long Beach State University (65 points), Harvard University (61 points), the University of California-Davis (57 points) and the University of California-San Diego (51 points) hold on at No. 7-to-11.

Loyola Marymount University (39 points) moves up one position to No. 12, while Bucknell University (35 points) and San Jose State University (35 points) are now tied at No. 13 with the University of California-Irvine (33 points) assuming the No. 15 spot.

Fordham University (16 points), California Baptist University (20 points) and George Washington University (16 points) retain the No. 16-to-18 positions.  Brown University (9 points) and Princeton University (9 points) once again complete the Top 20 via a tie at No. 19.

2019 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 11/November 20)

The Poets of Whittier College become a unanimous No. 1 pick in the Week 11/November 20 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Whittier (98 points) leads a Division III poll which again experiences radical shifts from No. 2-to-10 with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (93 points) leaping over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (89 points) to take over at No. 2.

Johns Hopkins University (79 points) remains at No. 4 with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (78 points) and California Lutheran University (76 points) rising to No. 5 and 6, respectively.

The University of Redlands (73 points) and Chapman University (70 points) shift to No. 7 and 8 with the University of La Verne (60 points) retaining the No. 9 slot.

Occidental College (45 points) completes the Top 10 in the final position.

2019 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 11/November 20)

The Bison of Bucknell University are now a unanimous top selection in the Week 11/November 20 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll.

Bucknell (100 points) shatters a tie with Fordham University (95 points) for the lead position from last week thanks to a 9-6 defeat of the Rams to clinch the No. 1 seed for this weekend’s MAWPC Championship at the Bison’s Kinney Natatorium.

George Washington University (91 points), the United States Naval Academy (85 points) and Wagner College (48 points) retain their previous rankings to complete the Top Five.

2019 Men’s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 11/November 20)

Harvard University retains the No. 1 spot in the Week 11/November 20 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five Poll.

The to-date undefeated Crimson (100 points) remain a unanimous top pick as Harvard remains unbeaten through the conclusion of the regular season entering this weekend’s NWPC Championship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Princeton University (95 points), Brown University (90 points), St. Francis College Brooklyn (85 points) and MIT (80 points) complete the Top Five for another week.
