BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2019 men’s varsity water polo season continues with the constant of change once again as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 10/November 13 Polls.

Change comes at the top of the National Top 20 rankings as Stanford University and the University of Southern California supplant the University of California-Los Angeles for the top spot.  The Division III Top 10 remains consistent with Whittier College maintaining a grip on the No. 1 position  In a similar fashion, Harvard University stays in the lead of the NWPC Top Five poll, while Bucknell University acquires company from Fordham University at No. 1 in the MAWPC Top Five.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 10/November 13)

Stanford University and the University of Southern California climb to the No. 1 position in the National Top 20 Poll as the Cardinal and Trojans overtake the University of California-Los Angeles in the Week 10/November 13 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

USC (96 points), which ranked at No. 1 in the Preseason and Week 1 voting, and Stanford (96 points), which topped the poll in Week 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, jump up from No. 4 and 2, respectively, to overtake UCLA (92 points) as the title of “top team” in the country continues to be in flux.

UCLA slips back to No. 3 and drives University of the Pacific (88 points) down one position to No. 4. The University of California-Santa Barbara (80 points), Pepperdine University (74 points), the University of California (68 points), Long Beach State University (65 points) and Harvard University (60 points) stay at No. 5-to-9 with the University of California-Davis (58 points) rising to No. 10.

The University of California-San Diego (52 points) falls back to No. 11 with San Jose State University (38 points) inching past Loyola Marymount University (37 points) as the squads exchange the No. 12 and 13 berths.

The University of California-Irvine (29 points) and Bucknell University (26 points) follow suit by trading spots No. 14 and 15.  Fordham University (25 points) shatters a tie with California Baptist University (22 points) as the teams rate at No. 16 and 17.

George Washington University (19 points) moves on place to No. 18 with the duo of Brown University (13 points) and Princeton University (13 points) completing the Top 20 in a tie at No. 19.

2019 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 10/November 13)

The Poets of Whittier College hang on at No. 1 in the Week 10/November 13 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Whittier (98 points) leads a Division III poll which again experiences radical shifts from No. 2-to-10 with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (91 points) and Johns Hopkins University (80 points) taking over at No. 2-to-4, respectively.

Chapman University (77 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (76 points) rise to No. 5 and 6, with California Lutheran University (73 points), the University of Redlands (67 points), the University of La Verne (63 points) and Austin College (33 points) rounding out the Top 10.

2019 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 10/November 13)

The Bison of Bucknell University gain company at No. 1 in the Week 10/November 13 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll as the Rams of Fordham University butt their way into a tie for the top spot.

Bucknell (95 points) and Fordham (95 points) hold a two point lead over George Washington University (93 points), while the United States Naval Academy (88 points) and Wagner College (48 points) retain their previous rankings to complete the Top Five.

2019 Men’s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 10/November 13)

Harvard University retains the No. 1 spot in the Week 10/November 13 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five Poll.

The to-date undefeated Crimson (100 points) remain a unanimous top pick as Harvard remains unbeaten through the conclusion of the regular season.

Princeton University (93 points) moves ahead of Brown University (92 points) to take over at No. 2.  St. Francis College Brooklyn (85 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (80 points) complete the Top Five for another week.
