BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Stanford University remains at No. 1 in the country as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 8/October 30 Polls.

Whittier College (Division III Top 10), Harvard University (NWPC Top Five) and Bucknell University (MAWPC Top Five) also hang on at No. 1 in their respective polls.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 8/October 30)

Stanford University continues its reign at No. 1 in the Week 8/October 30 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

Stanford (99 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (96 points), University of the Pacific (90 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (85 points) and Pepperdine University (79 points) remain at No. 1-to-5, respectively, while Long Beach State University (70 points) inches ahead of the University of Southern California (67 points) to take over at No. 6.

The University of California (60 points) holds at No. 8, while Harvard University (58 points) and the University of California-San Diego (58 points) maintain a tie at No. 9.

The University of California-Davis (47 points) and San Jose State University (44 points) both climb one place to assume the No. 11 and 12 spots with Loyola Marymount University (43 points) backing up to No. 13.

The University of California-Irvine (37 points), Bucknell University (31 points) and Fordham University (22 points) continue at No. 14-to-16 with St. Francis College Brooklyn (18 points), Princeton University (17 points) and California Baptist University (16 points) rising to No. 17-to-19.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (8 points) competes the rankings at No. 20.

2019 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 8/October 30)

The Poets of Whittier College stay at No. 1 in the Week 8/October 30 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Whittier (99 points) leads a Division III poll which again experiences radical shifts from No. 4-to-10 with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (93 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (91 points) remaining at No. 2 and 3.

California Lutheran University (77 points) jumps up to No. 4, while 2019 Division III Eastern Champion Johns Hopkins University (76 points) assumes the No. 5 spot.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (75 points) and the University of Redlands (75 points) are tied at No. 6 with Chapman University (73 points), the University of La Verne (62 points) and Occidental College (44 points) finishing out the Top 10.

The Bison of Bucknell University retain the No. 1 position in the Week 8/October 30 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll.

Bucknell (100 points) leads a Top Five league poll in which equity is the new norm as George Washington University (90 points), Fordham University (90 points) and the United States Naval Academy (90 points) stand tied at No. 2.

Johns Hopkins University (32 points) and Wagner College (32 points) complete the Top Five by tying for the final position.

The Crimson (100 points), Princeton University (91 points), St. Francis College Brooklyn (90 points), Brown University (88 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (81 points) complete the Top Five for another week as no movement occurs among the quintet.
