BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California stands alone on top as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Week 4/September 29 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Polls.
USC, which was tied with the University of California-Los Angeles two weeks ago prior to falling behind the Bruins last week, is a unanimous top pick in the National Top 20. Pomona-Pitzer Colleges retains sole custody of the top spot in the Division III Top 10 ranking, with Fordham University and Princeton University leading the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) and Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five rankings.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2021 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 4)
The University of Southern California takes over at No. 1 in the 2021 Week 4/September 29 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.
The Trojans (100 points) return to the No. 1 position following a one week absence. USC was tied with the University of California-Los Angeles for the lead position two weeks ago prior to the Bruins assuming sole top billing last week. USC’s climb to the top comes following a 3-0 weekend in which the Trojans downed the University of California-Davis (13-8 W), Stanford University (15-13 W) and the University of California (12-11 W), while UCLA suffered a 10-9 loss to the University of California.
California (95 points) rises to No. 2 with UCLA (91 points), Stanford University (85 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (89 points) rating at No. 3-to-5, respectively.
University of the Pacific (73 points) jumps up to No. 6 to drive Long Beach State University (71 points) and the University of California-Davis (66 points) back to No. 7 and 8.
The University of California-San Diego (55 points) and Princeton University (55 points), which were equals at No. 9 seven days back, acquire additional company as San Jose State University (55 points) joins the Tritons and Tigers in a three-way tie.
Pepperdine University (44 points), the University of California-Irvine (34 points), Santa Clara University (31 points), Harvard University (29 points) and Fordham University (23 points) remain at No. 12-to-16, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (20 points) and California Baptist University (18 points) move past Loyola Marymount University (15 points) to assume the No. 17 and 18 berths.
LMU and newcomer the United States Air Force Academy (4 points) complete the Top 20.

2021 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 4)
The Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remain the uncontested top team in the 2021 Week 4/September 29 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
Pomona-Pitzer (100 points), which was ranked at No. 3 in the Preseason balloting, is a unanimous top selection for the fourth week in a row. California Lutheran University (95 points) hangs on at No. 2, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (87 points) supplants Whittier College (83 points) at No. 3.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (76 points) stays at No. 5 with Chapman University (73 points) and the University of Redlands (70 points) taking over at No. 6 and 7.
Johns Hopkins University (69 points) slips to No. 8 with Occidental College (65 points) and Austin College (34 points) completing the Top 10.

2021 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 4)
Fordham University remains on top in the 2021 Week 4/September 29 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll.
The Rams (100 points), who totaled 98 points last week, are now a unanimous No. 1 selection with the United States Naval Academy (93 points), George Washington University (90 points), Bucknell University (87 points) and Wagner College (80 points) rating at No. 2-to-5.
The largest collegiate water polo conference, the MAWPC features 12 teams as Bucknell, Fordham, George Washington, Navy, Johns Hopkins University, Wagner and Mount St. Mary’s University comprise the Eastern Region, with Gannon University, Mercyhurst University, Salem University, Washington & Jefferson College and McKendree University competing in the Western Region.

2021 Men’s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 4)
Princeton University continues at No. 1 in the 2021 Week 4/September 29 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five Poll.
The 2018 NWPC Champion Tigers (100 points) retain a five point lead over Harvard University (95 points).
The remainder of the Top Five also remains unchanged as Brown University (90 points), St. Francis College Brooklyn (85 points) and Iona College (64 points) stick at No. 3-to-5 for another seven-day run.
A seven-team conference, the NWPA is comprised of Brown, Connecticut College, Harvard, Iona, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Princeton and St. Francis Brooklyn for the 2021 season.
