Following the cancellation of the 2020 NWPC schedule due to the COVID-19 outbreak, St. Francis Brooklyn, MIT, Brown, Harvard and Connecticut will return to the water for varsity competition in approaching two years time.  Iona – which competed in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East Region last year due to the NWPC schedule being terminated by the pandemic – and Connecticut – which moves over to the NWPC after not competing in the Camels’ previous conference (Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-West Region) in 2020 will also return to the water seeking a fresh start in  2021.

Since the formation of the NWPC and MAWPC from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) prior to the 2016 season, Harvard holds three titles (2016, 2017, 2019) with Princeton claiming the 2018 crown.  Overall, Harvard has appeared in all four prior NWPC title games (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) with Princeton (2017, 2018, 2019) and Brown (2016) making three and one appearance, respectively.
