BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — In the wake of the conference championships, Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Champion the University of Southern California takes over at No. 1 in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Week 12/November 23 Polls.

The Division III Top 10 poll experiences a change at No. 1 as Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champion California Lutheran University takes over the top spot.  MAWPC Champion Fordham University and NWPC Champion Princeton University retain the top position in their respective league rankings.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the MAWPC, NWPC, Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2022 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 12/November 23)

The University of Southern California takes over at No. 1 in the Week 12/November 23 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Champion due to victories over Austin College (30-3 W), the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) (12-11 W) and Stanford University (14-10 W), the Trojans (99 points) lead a Top 20 which experiences significant changes from the Week 11/September 16 voting.

The University of California (94 points) slips back to No. 2 with UCLA (90 points) dropping back to No. 3.   Stanford (88 points) and the University of California-Davis (79 points) hang on at No. 4 and 5 with University of the Pacific (77 points) and Long Beach State University (69 points) exchanging the No. 6 and 7 slots.

University of California-Santa Barbara (61 points) climbs to No. 8 with Princeton University (59 points) and the University of California-San Diego (55 points) relocating to No. 9 and 10.

The University of California-Irvine (52 points), Loyola Marymount University (45 points), Pepperdine University (42 points), San Jose State University (35 points) and St. Francis College Brooklyn (25 points) come in at No. 11-to-15 with Harvard University (23 points) and Fordham University (23 points) tying at No. 16.

Santa Clara University (19 points), California Baptist University (10 points) and previously not ranked Bucknell University (4 points) complete the Top 20.

2022 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 12/November 23)

Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champion California Lutheran University assumes the No. 1 spot in the Week 12/November 23 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Cal Lutheran (99 points) top SCIAC Championship runner-up the University of Redlands (94 points) with previously No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (91 points) sliding to No. 3.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (83 points) drops back to No. 4, while Chapman University (75 points), Occidental College (75 points) and Johns Hopkins University (75 points) tying at No. 5.

Whittier College (62 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (62 points) are tied at No. 8 with the University of La Verne (35 points) rating at No. 10.

2022 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 12/November 23/Final)

Fordham University completes the year at No. 1 in the Week 12/November 23/Final Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Poll after capturing the league championship over the weekend at home in the Bronx.

The Rams (100 points) complete the season with a five-point lead over Bucknell University (95 points) with George Washington University (90 points), Salem University (84 points) and the United States Naval Academy (49 points) rating at No. 3-to-5, respectively.

2022 Men’s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 12/November 23/Final)

Princeton University completes the conference season at No. 1 in the Week 12/November 23/Final Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five Poll

The 2018, 2021 and 2022 NWPC Champion Tigers (100 points) rate as a unanimous top pick, while St. Francis College Brooklyn (95 points) and 2016, 2017 and 2019 NWPC Champion Harvard University (90 points) exchange the No. 2 and 3 berths.

Brown University (85 points) and Iona University (80 points) remain at No. 4 and 5 to complete the final NWPC poll of the season.
