BRIDGEPORT, Pa — The 2022 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Championship All-Tournament Team was released immediately following the conclusion of the championship with Princeton University’s Joan Coloma (Sr., Barcelona, Spain/Jesuites Casp), Brown University’s Ilias Stothart (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) and St. Francis College Brooklyn’s Ilija Duretic claiming Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Tournament and Dick Russell Coach of the Tournament recognition, respectively.
Selections to the All-Tournament team are based on slots awarded to each program depending on their order of finish. The respective head coaches of each program name athletes from their teams to fill the positions.
On the First Team, Coloma is among two members of the 2022 NWPC Champion Tigers to claim the highest recognition by joining teammate Ryan Neapole (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake). NWPC Championship runner-up St. Francis Brooklyn’s Aleksa Sisakovic (Sr., Belgrade, Serbia/X Beogradska Gimnazjia “Mihailo Pupin”), Adonis Vlassis (Jr., Athens, Greece/Lycee Francohellenique Eugene Delacroix) and goalkeeper Djordje Stoiljkovic (Nis, Serbia/First Grammar School Stevan Sremac) along with Harvard University’s Alex Tsotadze (Sr., Menlo Park, Calif./Sacred Heart Prep) and Brown’s Stothart round-out the seven First Team honorees.
A trio of goalies lead the Second Team as Iona University’s Kyle Laufenberg (Sr., Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich), Brown’s Kole Newman (Fr., Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) and Princeton’s Antonio Knez (Sr., Dubrovnik, Croatia/Gimnazia Dubrovnik) garner laurels.
Princeton’s Vladan Mitrovic (So., Novi Sad, Serbia/Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj), St. Francis College Brooklyn’s Baptiste Oliveri (Sr., Marseille, France/Lycee du Rempart), Harvard’s James Rozolis-Hill (Fr., Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Miller Geschke (Sr., Los Altos, Calif./Menlo School) and Connecticut College’s Christian Jacobsen (Sr., North Palm Beach, Fla./Suncoast) also receive Second Team status to complete the All-Tournament team.
