BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California remains at No. 1 in the National Top 20, while Pomona-Pitzer College dislodges Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges from the lead position in the Division III Top 10 rankings as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the official 2025 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Polls for Week 10/November 5.

Defending MAWPC champion Fordham University remains at No. 1 in the MAWPC Top Five, while Harvard University stays in the top spot of the NWPC Top Five.

Voted on by a panel of coaches, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2025 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 10/November 5)

The University of Southern California maintains a narrow one-point lead over defending National Champion the University of California-Los Angeles in the Week 10/November 5 2025 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

USC (98 points) – which gained the lead position two weeks back – stays one point in front of UCLA (97 points) as the first five positions remain constant with Stanford University (90 points), the University of California (85 points) and Fordham University (80 points) retaining the No. 3-to-5 positions, respectively.

Changes start at No. 6 as University of the Pacific (68 points) rises two positions, while San Jose State University (66 points) and the University of California-Davis (59 points) – which were tied at No. 6 seven days ago – stand at No. 7 and 8 this week.

Long Beach State University (54 points) holds firm at No. 9 with No. 10 the University of California-San Diego (53 points) gaining company in the position from the University of California-Santa Barbara (53 points).

Pepperdine University (51 points) improves to No. 12 with Loyola Marymount University (44 points), Princeton University (43 points), California Baptist University (29 points) and the University of California-Irvine (27 points) rearranging to rate at No. 13-to-16.

Santa Clara University (18 points) gains company at No. 17 from Harvard University (18 points) with the duo of Brown University (7 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (6 points) completing the Top 20.

2025 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 10/November 5)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges regains the No. 1 spot in the Week 10/November 5 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

The Sagehens (99 points) – which topped previously top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges by a 10-9 score in overtime last week – return to No. 1 for the first time since CMS took over the position in the Week 3/September 17 polling.

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (93 points) falls into a tie with Johns Hopkins University (93 points) at No. 2 as the Blue Jays move up from No. 3.  

The University of Redlands (85 points) stays at No. 4 with Whittier College (77 points) and California Lutheran University (75 points) acquiring the No. 5 and 6 berths.

Chapman University (68 points), Occidental College (67 points), Augustana College (50 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (46 points) wrap up the Week 10 rankings.

2025 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 10/November 5)

Four-time (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Fordham University continues at No. 1 in the Week 10/November 5 MAWPC Top Five Poll.

A unanimous No. 1 selection, the Rams (100 points) lead a Top Five in which no changes occur with the United States Naval Academy (95 points), George Washington University (90 points), Bucknell University (85 points) and Wagner College (80 points) continuing at No. 2-to-5, respectively.

Three-time (2016, 2017, 2019) Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion Harvard University remains a No. 1 selection in the Week 10/November 5 NWPC Top Five Poll.

Harvard (99 points) – which replaced five-time (2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) NWPC champion Princeton University (96 points) at No. 1 four weeks ago –hold off the Tigers by three points.

Iona University (87 points) and Brown University (87 points) enter a tie at No. 3 with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (81 points) retaining the No. 5 position.
