BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of California-Los Angeles takes over at No. 1 in the National Top 20, while Pomona-Pitzer Colleges retains the lead position in the Division III Top 10 rankings as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the official 2025 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Polls for Week 12/November 19.

Defending MAWPC champion Fordham University remains at No. 1 in the MAWPC Top Five, while defending NWPC Champion Princeton University stays in the top spot of the NWPC Top Five.

Voted on by a panel of coaches, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2025 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 12/November 19)

Defending National Champion the University of California-Los Angeles utilizes a 14-13 defeat of previously top-ranked the University of Southern California over the weekend to claim the lead position in the Week 12/November 19 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

UCLA (99 points) flips the top two position in the National Poll as USC (96 points) – which gained the lead position three weeks back from the Bruins – drops back to No. 2.  

The next six positions in the Top 10 remain unchanged as Stanford University (90 points), the University of California (85 points), Fordham University (81 points), University of the Pacific (73 points), Long Beach State University (70 points) and the University of California-Davis (64 points) continue at No. 3-to-8, respectively.

San Jose State University (60 points) and Pepperdine University (57 points) trade the No. 9 and 10 spots to complete the Top 10.

Loyola Marymount University (45 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (43 points) exchange the No. 11 and 12 berths, while the University of California-San Diego (41 points) and Princeton University (39 points) stay at No. 13 and 14.

The University of California-Irvine (30 points) and California Baptist University (30 points) move into a tie at No. 15 with Santa Clara University (20 points), Harvard University (18 points), Brown University (6 points) and the United States Naval Academy (5 points) completing the Top 20.

2025 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 12/November 19)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remains the top squad in the Week 12/November 19 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

The Sagehens (100 points) – which retain their previous status as a unanimous No. 1 pick – are followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points).

A change occurs at No. 3 as Whittier College (86 points) clips Johns Hopkins University (85 points) to move up the rankings.

The University of Redlands (79 points), California Lutheran University (74 points), Occidental College (72 points), Chapman University (68 points), Augustana College (46 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (37 points) remain at No. 5-to-10.

2025 Men’s Varsity Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 12/November 19)

Four-time (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Fordham University continues at No. 1 in the Week 12/November 19 MAWPC Top Five Poll.

A unanimous No. 1 selection, the Rams (100 points) lead a Top Five in which no changes occur with the United States Naval Academy (95 points), George Washington University (89 points), Bucknell University (86 points) and Wagner College (80 points) continuing at No. 2-to-5.

2025 Men’s Varsity Northeast Water Polo Conference Top 5 (Week 12/November 19)

Five-time (2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) NWPC champion Princeton University remains on top of the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five in the Week 12/November 19 balloting.

Princeton (99 points) – which knocked off three-time (2016, 2017, 2019) Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion Harvard University (95 points) a week ago to clinch the No. 1 seed for the NWPC Championship at Brown University on Friday-Sunday, November 21-23 – leads a Top Five which experiences no changes throughout the rankings.

Brown (90 points), Iona University (85 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (80 points) once again complete the Top Five.
