BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges remain at No 1 in the National Top 20 and Division III Top 10 rankings, respectively, as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the official 2025 Men’s Varsity National Top 20, Division III Top 10, Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Top Five and Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Top Five Polls for Week 9/October 29.
Defending MAWPC champion Fordham University remains at No. 1 in the MAWPC Top Five, while Harvard University stays in the top spot of the NWPC Top Five.
Voted on by a panel of coaches, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2025 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 9/October 29)
The University of Southern California maintains a narrow one-point lead over defending National Champion the University of California-Los Angeles in the Week 9/October 29 2025 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.
USC (98 points) – which gained the lead position last week – stays one point in front of UCLA (97 points) as the first five positions remain constant with Stanford University (89 points), the University of California (87 points) and Fordham University (80 points) rolling on at No. 3-to-5, respectively.
The University of California-Davis (72 points) acquires company at No. 6 as the Spartans of San Jose State University (72 points) equal the Aggies. University of the Pacific (59 points), Long Beach State University (56 points) and the University of California-San Diego (54 points) complete the Top 10.
Princeton University (49 points) closes in on a Top 10 return as the Tigers rise to No. 11, while California Baptist University (44 points), Pepperdine University (43 points) and Loyola Marymount University (34 points) come in at No. 12-to-14, respectively.
The University of California-Santa Barbara (30 points) and the University of California-Irvine (30 points) enter a tie at No. 15 with Santa Clara University (20 points) rating at No. 17.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (15 points) and Harvard University (15 points) enter a tie at No. 18 with Brown University (7 points) completing the Top 20.

2025 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 9/October 29)
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges continues an undisputed reign at No. 1 in the Week 9/October 29 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
The first four positions in the Top 10 remain unchanged as CMS (100 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (95 points) and Johns Hopkins University (90 points) and the University of Redlands (85 points) stay at No. 1-to-4.
Chapman University (78 points) and Occidental College (74 points) move up to No. 5 and 6, while California Lutheran University (67 points) and Whittier College (65 points) take over at No. 7 and 8.
Augustana College (62 points) breaks a tie with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (37 points) at No. 9 from last week as the Vikings and Engineers settle at No. 9 and 10.
