BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — George Washington University’s Dara Bleiberg (Fr., Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) started her Colonials’ career with eight goals, eight assists and six steals during a 3-1 weekend at the Bucknell University Bison Invitational to earn a share of the February 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Rookie of the Week award.

She is one of three players to earn Rookie of the Week accolades joining teammate Alana Ponce (Fr., Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor) and Marialena Seletopoulou (Fr., Glyfada, Athens, Greece/Yannopoulos School) of Saint Francis University.  It marks the first time the league has awarded three nods for one weekly honor.

Appearing in her first collegiate games, Bleiberg started her career by racking up a goal, an assist and a steal in an 18-8 defeat of Siena College prior to tallying three goals and two steals with a pair of ejections drawn in a 16-10 victory over Gannon University. 

She wrapped up the tournament with three goals and an ejection drawn in an 11-8 loss to Bucknell before accounting for eight points with four goals, four assists and three steals in a 21-13 win against Saint Francis.
