2021 Men’s Collegiate Club New York Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Men’s Collegiate Club New York Division schedule.
Comprised of Binghamton University, Columbia University, Cornell University, New York University, Syracuse University, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, the United States Military Academy and the University of Buffalo, the division will contest its 26th season of competition in 2021. Historically, the New York Division has been captured by Army (1995, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), the Rochester Institute of Technology (1996), the University of Rochester (1996), Cornell (2000, 2012, 2013, 2014), Colgate University (2003, 2005), Merchant Marine (2004), Columbia (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015) and NYU (2007). The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to a lack of regular season hosts, the division will be comprised exclusively of a championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 16-17, at Army’s Crandall and Intramural Pools in West Point, N.Y. The 16-game event is seeded based on the final results of the 2019 season.
The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2021 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Alabama at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday-Sunday, November 12-14. However, NYU and Merchant Marine retain the right to attend the Men’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 30-31, at a site to be announced. If either NYU or Merchant Marine win the New York Division title, the team will have the right to choose which championship they wish to attend. If the team selects the Division III Championship, the runner-up from the New York Division advances to the National Collegiate Club Championship.
