IRVINE, Calif. — Brown University men’s and women’s head coaching chair for water polo Felix Mercado was named a youth assistant coach for the 2024 Men’s Olympic Developmental Program (ODP) National Team.
“I am excited and honored to be named assistant coach for the USA Youth Water Polo Men’s National Team,” said Mercado. “I look forward to helping this team and this great coaching staff to compete for a medal this summer at the Junior Pan American Championships and World Youth Championships. I also want to thank Dr. Grace Calhoun and this administration for allowing me the opportunity to work with USA Water Polo.”
Mercado was named head coach for water polo in 2007 and has led the Bears to national exposure, with numerous seasons in the Top 20/25 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) national rankings, along with several All-American selections.
He was also selected to the USA Water Polo Racial Equity and Reform Task Force in 2020.
