83 Collegiate Water Polo Institutions Among Top 100 United States Universities in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — 83 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) institutions are among the Top 100 Universities in the United States per the Times Higher Education 2018 rankings released earlier this year.

Among the best universities in the world, the list of United States institutions is comprised of 110 teams due to ties.

Eight of the Top 10 schools in the United States sponsor either collegiate club or varsity teams in the CWPA as Stanford University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Johns Hopkins University and Columbia University joining with the California Institute of Technology and the University of Chicago among the best of the best in the rankings.

Only three of the Top 50 schools in the rankings are not part of the CWPA as the University of Minnesota, which previously sponsored a team in the league, comes in at No. 29.  Further, 47 of the Top 150 schools in the world are part of the league with Caltech, Chicago and Minnesota rating as the sole schools in the U.S. to make the first 150 slots in the World University rankings without a squad in the CWPA.
