SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Princeton University alum Ashleigh Johnson stopped all three shots attempted against her to finish with an unblemished goals against average as the United States Women’s National Team handled former Hartwick College standout Bronwen Knox, current University of Michigan star Maddy Steere and the rest of the Australia National Team, 14-3, at Santa Barbara High School. The victory capped a three-game sweep for Team USA over their longtime rivals as the Americans and Johnson previously claimed 9-2 and 11-4 wins earlier in the week.
Johnson combined with fellow USA goalie Amanda Longan for seven saves in net as Longan allowed three strikes and turned away four scoring attempts.
Knox finished with seven shots, two exclusions and a pair of steals, while Steere did not factor in the contest.
Team USA and Australia will now travel to Surgut, Russia for the 2018 FINA World Cup taking place September 4-9. The United States has won the last two FINA World Cup titles (2010, 2014).
