VILLANOVA, Pa. — Alaina Pribis (Sr., Concord, N.H.) scored six times and the duo of Emily Chu (So., Claremont, Calif.) and Eve Labalme (Jr., Cornwall, Conn.) both put away four markers as Division III No. 5-ranked Middlebury College earned a spot in the 2019 Women’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship title game with an 18-2 defeat of Division III No. 7 Carleton College at Villanova University.
- Middlebury, which previously defeated Division III No. 8 New York University by a 13-4 score earlier in the day, claims the Bracket B title and will play Division III No. 3 Washington University in St. Louis at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, fo for the inaugural Women’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship title.
- The loss drops Carleton into the Fifth Place game as the Righteous Babes place third in Bracket B following an earlier 7-2 loss against Division III No. 8 New York University. Carleton will face Bracket A third place finisher/Division III No. 9 Grinnell College at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, for Fifth Place in the six-team championship.
- Trailing 1-0 with 6:41 left in the first quarter, the Panthers went on the prowl by rattling off four consecutive goals to closeout the first quarter for a 4-1 lead after seven minutes of play. The team padded its lead by totaling four more goals to commence the second quarter to pull ahead 8-1 before the teams traded scoring punches to set the scoreboard at 9-2 by halftime.
- Middlebury put any hopes of a comeback bid to rest in the third quarter as the team rattled off seven unanswered goals to collect a 16-2 lead with one quarter remaining to play.
- The Panthers refused to slow down in the fourth quarter as the squad drove home two final nails in the opening 90 seconds of the final frame to establish the 18-2 final score.
- For Middlebury, Pribis, Chu and Labalme combined for 14 of their squads’ 18 goals. Virginia Stanley (So., Wallingford, Conn.) tacked on a pair with the duo of Jenna Kotcher (So., Mountainview, Calif.) and Emily Lewkowicz (Sr., Hopkinton, Mass.) tossing in solo markers.
- Rebekah Kissel (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) and Kyle Fraser-Mines (So., Northbrook, Ill.) accounted for Carleton’s scoring in the game.
- Neither team converted on a man-up chance in the contest as the officials did not call an ejection for the entire 28-minute duration of the clash.
