BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Commissioner Dan Sharadin announces the appointment of Mike Gordon as the league’s Club Officiating Assignor. CWPA Coordinator of Officials Ed Reed retains assignment duties for the men’s and women’s varsity games in addition to being the lead educator of officials in the CWPA.
Gordon will be responsible for the assignment of all CWPA men’s and women’s club events in both league and non-league competition; ensuring communications from the league’s Coordinator of Officials are disseminated appropriately; weekly communications with the Head Officials regarding their responsibilities; and weekly communications with all club officials. Further, he will assist with the Referee Ambassador Program and aid in the recruitment/development of club level officials.
A member of the Villanova University men’s club water polo team prior to matriculating in 2006, Gordon has worked as an official for the CWPA and other organizations for the past 13 years. A National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) official during the men’s season and a varsity women’s assistant coach at Villanova in the Spring, he officiated high school and varsity games on the West Coast prior to returning home to the East Coast during the Summer of 2018.
