BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) reminds its membership that Participation Agreements for the Fall 2020 Men’s Collegiate Club season are due by June 1. Form must be submitted by the club supervisor, not by the Team Leader.

Club supervisors can submit the form by CLICKING HERE.

The league requires all collegiate club teams to complete a Participation Agreement prior to every season. The agreement outlines their obligation to compete in all of their scheduled games in their entirety and avoiding no-contests. No-contests occur when a team fails to show for its scheduled game, causing the following problems:

  • Teams pay for lodging when they could have driven the next day
  • Teams fail to receive the number of games they originally expected
  • Schedules change at the last minute, causing confusion among teams
  • Schedule changes make the program inaccurate, wasting money
  • Hosts pay pool rental fees for unused time
  • Officials are paid for games not played

“The CWPA understands the current predicament teams are experiencing due to the Coronavirus,” states Assistant Commissioner Tom Tracey.  “Although teams may not be 100% sure of their ability to compete during the Fall, the league needs to know what teams have the desire to compete for the season.  This permits a schedule to be compiled and gives the league an approximate count regarding the number of teams that may compete during the season.”

Due to questions regarding schools opening for the Fall, the league appreciates that most teams will likely be unable to commit to compete at this time.  By league rule, teams have until September 1 to withdraw from the season.  In light of some institutions potentially not opening until later into the Fall, the CWPA will work will institutions to complete the best viable option for a competitive schedule.
