2021 Men’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Men’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division schedule.

Comprised of Bates College, Bowdoin College, Colby College, Middlebury College, Tufts University and the University of Vermont, the North Atlantic Division will contest its 24th season in 2021 with previous titles held by Tufts (1997, 1998, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2016), Bates (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2017, 2018, 2019), Dartmouth College (2003), Middlebury (2004, 2005), Boston College (2006), the United States Coast Guard Academy (2008), Amherst College (2011, 2012, 2014) and Northeastern University (2015). The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, September 18-19, with 10 games at Colby in Waterville, Maine.  Due to Middlebury being unable to compete this weekend, the regular season standings will be based on winning percentage as the teams will compete in an unequal number of games.

The final regular season tournament occurs on Saturday-Sunday, October 2-3, as Bowdoin in Brunswick, Maine, serves as the site for the concluding 12 games.

The order of finish from the regular season establishes the North Atlantic Division’s seeding for the combined Colonial/North Atlantic “A” and “B” Championships slated for Saturday-Sunday, October 16-17, at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., and on Saturday-Sunday, October 23-24, at Middlebury in Middlebury, Vt., respectively.

The “A” Championship will pit the top three finishers from the North Atlantic Division versus the top three teams from the Colonial Division in a nine-game event to determine an overall champion.  In addition, the top finishing teams in both divisions claim their respective group’s titles.

A week later, the “B” Championship pits the No. 4-to-6 seeds from both the North Atlantic and Colonial Divisions in another nine-game tournament.

The North Atlantic and Colonial Division top Division III finishers at the “A Championship both earn automatic berths to the 2021 Division III Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by Colby on Saturday-Sunday, October 30-31.  Due to Colby claiming a guaranteed position as the host institution, the runner-up in the North Atlantic Division will claim the group’s position for the Division III Championship.
