IRVINE, Calif. — Goals by Yurian Quinones and Mason Killion in overtime helped the No. 11-ranked Princeton University Tigers complete a comeback victory over the No. 13 University of California-Irvine Anteaters, 12-10.
Princeton found itself trailing, 10-8, with just four minutes to go in the contest. Roko Pozaric put one in the back of the net, while Keller Maloney added the equalizer as the clock ticked under two minutes to tie the game at 10-all.
Maloney led the Tigers with four goals on the afternoon while Killion, Pozaric and Quinones also registered multi-goal outings with pairs for Princeton. Billy Motherway was credited with 14 saves in the win.
The first stanza was even affair with the two squads exchanging tallies, setting the score at three-all after eight minutes. Pozaric’s first goal of the game gave Princeton a 5-4 halftime advantage.
The second half started with goals from Mitchell Cooper and Maloney, extending Princeton’s lead to two, 7-5, more than halfway through the third frame.
UC-Irvine rallied with the last two tallies of the third as the fourth quarter got underway. The Anteaters continued their run into the fourth, going in front, 9-7, before the Princeton rally.
