Oregon State University-vs.-No. 5 University of Texas Scoresheet (2022 National Collegiate Club Championship – Game #12)

NEWBERG, Ore. — Zachary de Haaff (Jr., Menlo Park, Calif.) and Joe Lofgren (Sr., Plano, Texas) both scored four goals as No. 5-ranked/Texas Division Champion the University of Texas dispatched host Oregon State University in 2022 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship bracket competition hosted by Oregon State University at the Chehalem Aquatic and Fitness Center.

The win places the Longhorns into a 1:40 p.m. game on Saturday, November 12, against No. 9/New England Division Champion with the winner advancing to the NInth Place game on Sunday, November 13, while the loser plays for 11th place at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

For Oregon State, the Beavers will see their season come to an end at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, as the squad battles No 17/Atlantic Division Champion in a 13th/15th place game.  Due to time restrictions, the 13th and 15th place games are not contested as the victors of the 8:40 p.m. (Viriginia-vs.-Oregon State) and 9:50 p.m. (No. 14 University of Washington vs. No. 16 United States Military Academy) tying for 13th place in the final standings the losers tying for 15th place.

Texas never trailed against Oregon State as the Longhorns raced out to a 6-0 lead by the conclusion of the first quarter and held a 9-3 scoreboard advantage entering halftime.

However, OSU made it a game in the third quarter by outscoring Texas, 6-3, to pull within 12-9 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Beavers chipped their lead to a pair of markers during the seven-minute final quarter as Oregon State pulled within 12-10 (6:30), 13-11 (5:10), 14-12 (4:35) and 15-13 (1:10), but were unable to get over the hump and pull even with Texas.

For the Longhorns, Mark Weisberg (Jr., Plano, Texas) accounted for a pair of markers, while Tyler Barber (Fr., Houston, Texas), Aayan Khasgiwala (So., Dallas, Texas), Evan McDaniel (Fr., Houston, Texas), Hugh Flanders (So., Danville, Calif.) and Rishabh Pandey (Fr., San Jose, Calif.) deposited solo tallies.

Between the pipes, Ben Thomas (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) and Mustafa Yowell (So., Irving, Texas) combined for 11 Texas’ saves.  Elias Cuyler (Sr., Eugene, Ore.) took the loss for Oregon State with eight stops.

Santiago Gomez (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) and Dylan Delucchi (So., Sacramento, Calif.) both swished three shots for the Beavers to lead the OSU offense.  Alexander Bradford (So., Beaverton, Ore.), Jared Pratt (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) and Olivia Bolsen (Sr., Mission Viejo, Calif.) connected on pairs with Danny Navarro (Fr., Martinez, Calif.) chipping in a solo strike.
