BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Barnabas Eppel (Fr., Budapest, Hungary/Budenz József Alapítványi Gimnázium) of No. 17-ranked Fordham University racked up seven goals, two assists and nine ejections drawn in the span of three league road matches to earn status as the October 2 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week.
An inaugural recipient of a weekly award from the league office, Eppel netted a season-high four goals to go along with two assists and three ejections drawn at George Washington University in an 18-6 victory on Saturday, September 30. He capped off the day by punching in a goal and drawing four exclusions as the Rams sank No. 19 the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., by a 12-9 count.
Eppel concluded his award-winning weekend by scoring twice and drawing a pair of exclusions during a 28-12 management of Division III No. 9 Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., on Sunday, October 1.
