IRVINE, Calif. — The No. 6-ranked Princeton University men’s water polo squad secured a thrilling win at No. 9 the University of California-Irvine, 11-9.
In what was a back-and-forth, affair, the largest lead either team held in this one was two, which happened three separate times including the final score.
The difference in this game came on the power play, where the Tigers were four-for-10 on their opportunities, while the Anteaters were just two-for-11 on UC-Irvine’s opportunities.
George Caras had his second hat trick in the past three games, including a goal that sealed the deal in the final minute, while Vladan Mitrovic, Luke Johnston, Mason Killion, Roko.Pozaric, JP Ohl, William.Swart, Yurian.Quinones and Finn LeSleur each scored once.
Freshman goaltender Kristof Kovacs made 11 saves in just his second career start in net for the Tigers.
